Oy! It’s been a while–have been basking in the glow of that check I got in the mail the last time we “chatted”. So hmmm…what’s been going on w/ me? Well:
1) Someone “found” me on Twitter. BLOCK!
2) Bought my tickets to Comic-Con 2009, made my hotel reservations, and have been virtually stalking Travelocity.com for the cheapest flights to San Diego in July.
3) Attended a members-only screening party of the series finale of Battlestar Galactica at Seattle’s Sci-Fi Museum. (The finale was thoroughly satisfying, in case you were wondering.)
4) Submitted a Volunteer application to the above-mentioned EMP|Sci-Fi museum and have an interview next week. In one month’s time, I should be MASTERFULLY wrangling Muppets in the traveling “Jim Henson Experience” exhibit that shows up in May…
5) Feeling fatter than ever: time to hit the trail around the lake!
6) Have been sucked in to yet another fantastic series of books by my friends.
7) Subsequently, am planning a trip with said friends to the Scottish Highlands in October.
And what about you?
So, what did you do with your windfall?
And what’s this new series of books you’re into?
The windfall is sitting safely in my savings account…for now.
As for the books? The “Outlander” series. I die. *sigh*
Always good to have a bit set aside!
I am currently reading the “Ephemera” series by Anne Bishop. If you haven’t read it, I recommend it when you’re next looking for something to read.
Oh, and between you and my oldest child (age 14), I’ve caved and just ordered the entire Twilight saga. Ugh! I usually try to avoid what’s super popular at the moment. I won’t tell you how long it took me to start the Harry Potter series because of all the initial hub-bub, and I worked at a book store!
As for Twilight–I promise nothing. In retrospect, exactly WHY I liked those books (with the exception of the 4th one) so much is beyond me. They aren’t exactly “well written”, and as they stand are definitely meant for a YA audience. I think I just needed a sappy love story to occupy my heart for a while. Can’t guarantee they will do the same for you…but they are entertaining in the very least. And at least you’ll know what all the hype has been about…
Sometimes it is good to just read some “fluff” and have a book you can quickly finish.
Many, many adults I know have swooned over Twilight. Then again, many, many adults swooned over Eragon. I figure it’s ok for adults to read YA from time to time, just like it’s ok for adults to watch silly teeny-bopper movies on occasion too.
Alright. All four of the Twilight Saga arrived today. I can’t say if I’m proud for following a trend or disappointed with myself.
Anyways, they’ll have to wait for next week some time as I’ve just started the last book of my current series and I want to finish that first.
Yay, she’s back!
I am so behind the times that I just started the Harry Potter books.
